We have received 2,000 defective units from China – here’s what we will do

“I have good news and bad news…” I think it was like this or something similar when I was told this week that a new product was coming that could be a future top seller. It arrived on time but it turns out to be defective.

Problems identified with the 2,000 units

It wasn’t just one problem, it was several:

  • Chemical smell : This is a problem uk whatsapp number data that we thought we had already solved. It is quite common in some products and is something that a customer can give you a bad review for. We had already detected it in the first test of the product and we had insisted to the Chinese that it was something that they would have to fix. We did not have that problem in the first order.
  • Printing the logo : this is something that the client will not notice as much but it is noticeable. The logo comes out worse with small errors. It is black on black so it is rather a minor problem compared to the next issue.

Limited Capacity

  • This is a storage product that has a with google due to completely phase capacity to store x-units of a collectible product. This is what we tested before placing the order. It turns out that the capacity is more like x-30%. They must have made some design change in this batch that caused that reduction in capacity.

I’m not going to lie to you. It’s serious for us. But we’re not going to cry and feel sorry for ourselves because the world isn’t fair. We’re going to do this:

  • Air out the product for a week – We have thailand data removed all the products from their boxes and most units have already been airing out for a couple of days. This should resolve the odor issue.

How to solve it

  • Listing Description Change – We will adapt the listing description to fit the identified capability. We may be able to get away with this and I am optimistic that the product will be released despite the identified issues.
  • Negotiating with China : Now it’s time to negotiate a reward with China for the next order. We will also have to insist more on a quality control process next time. Here we have been too confident that things would go well.

This is also true. Things have gone quickly with the last order of 2,000 units. We took a risk because of Christmas. It is now that we can immediately sell that product. We have learned another lesson, though. We are continuing.
